First-Year Students: A first-year student is a high school graduate (or soon to be) who has never enrolled at a college or university (do not count college classes you have taken in high school). Ohio State Newark has open enrollment. That means that any first-time college student who has completed high school in Ohio (or the GED) may enroll. Make no mistake: This does not mean it is easier. You will find the same courses and same professors in Newark that are at the Columbus campus. Complete your admissions application at apply.osu.edu. Transfer Students: If you have already started college, you can still graduate as a Buckeye. If you have earned at least a 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) on your college coursework, we will review your academic performance to determine your eligibility for admission. Course credit will transfer to Ohio State if the course was taken at a regionally accredited institution, the course was non-remedial and you received a C- or better. In a few cases, a D or D+ may transfer. In many cases, credit for equivalent courses is received when transfer credit is awarded. Visit transferology.com for details about the transferability of course credit to and from Ohio and regional institutions. Housing: On-campus university housing options are steps away from everything Ohio State Newark has to offer. Whether you are interested in our new, traditional-style residence hall or our apartment-style suites, you are never far from opportunity. Students are selected for the 310 coveted spots via a lottery system. For consideration you must confirm your acceptance to Ohio State Newark and submit a housing application and deposit by mid-April. Details available at go.osu.edu/newarkhousing.
